On January 5, 2023, Professor Andrea Maier was a guest on the talk show hosted by Eva Jinek to discuss NMN, a supplement that combats aging. Subsequently, on February 7, she also appeared on 'Tijd voor Max'. NMN, a form of vitamin B3, promotes the presence of NAD+ in our bodies. Although the video from Jinek's show is unfortunately no longer available online, we have provided a summary of the segment in this article. The video from Omroep Max is still accessible for viewing.

Summary of Andrea Maier's interview about NMN on Jinek
In December, many people indulge in abundant food and relaxation, but with the arrival of January, many strive for a healthier life. There has recently been a breakthrough in science where the lifespan of mice has been extended by 60%, suggesting the potential for humans to possibly live up to 120 years. Professor Andrea Maier of Vrije Universiteit discussed this topic and emphasized that not only mice, but also other small animals such as flies and worms, have shown similar results.
Research in humans has shown that administering the supplement NMN, a form of vitamin B3, improved walking capacity and increased NAD+ in our cells. They gave the supplement NMN, Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, to 50-year-old men for 60 days. NAD+ is very important for cells to function better, as function decreases during the aging process.
The men were able to walk longer after the treatment. Improved walking speed is a good indicator of aging, and the results showed that they had a higher quality of life.
The research was placebo-controlled. There were different groups: one group received a placebo, and others received different doses of the drug.
According to Andrea Maier, NMN is a promising supplement to combat aging.
